Food for thought today

"When you do not seek or need external approval, you are at your most powerful. Nobody can disempower you emotionally or psychologically. “This spiritual security gave me a liberated feeling that was practically euphoric. "It made me appreciate why the famous line ‘to thine own self be true in Shakespeare’s Hamletis considered a spiritual commandment. “You cannot live prolonged periods of time within the polarity of being true to yourself and needing the approval of others. "At some point you will realize that you are doing harm to yourself by being what you think you should be so that someone approves of you.“In the language of a Contract, compromising who you are to gain the approval of another is a very precise example of giving away a piece of your spirit. "Eventually you give away more and more of yourself until you have no strength or sense of self left."... only through honoring oneself do we become strong enough to refuse to dance.”

Alaska...my break from Boudoir

Every year I challenge myself to find something new to photograph.  This year I set off to enjoy an Alaskan adventure.

I saw whales, caribou, moose and drove through Denali twice.  You never know what you will see when you plan a vacation but I was blessed with sunny skies and amazing people. I was close to the Arctic circle when I looked to the north and saw the most amazing green ray starting to swirl its way up to the middle of the sky.  Soon, I was in the middle of an amazing display of greens and purples. Time stood still and I set off my camera with my remote. Over and over frame by frame I was capturing the most beautiful thing I think I have ever seen.  I felt small but so lucky. This trip was everything I imagined.  I have so much respect for people that live in that land. It is cold and rough yet can be the most breathtaking at the same time. I will go back again :)

Now, back to Boudoir and getting the studio redone for 2016. Can't wait to greet all of our upcoming customers!
